Job summary

Queensland Corrective Services is seeking a Statewide Manager for the Maximum Security Team in Brisbane to provide strategic policy guidance on sentence management for maximum security prisoners and to lead the unit's resources and governance.

The role requires demonstrated risk and case management expertise, senior stakeholder engagement, and strong leadership to motivate teams and ensure legislative compliance across the unit.

Qualifications

• Experience in assessment, risk management and case management of high-risk offenders.
• Proven community and stakeholder engagement at senior management level.
• Strong leadership with ability to motivate and mentor others.
• Knowledge of offender assessment, intervention and treatment planning.
• Ability to provide strategic and operational policy advice on sentence management.
• Experience with maximum security order management.

The Statewide Manager, Maximum Security Team will provide advice regarding the standards and principles related to sentence management practices and legislative compliance for prisoners referred and managed as maximum security classification. The role is also responsible for providing strategic direction and policy advice to Senior Executive staff relating to sentence management functions for maximum security classification prisoner, and the overall management of human, financial and physical resources within the unit.

The most suitable applicant will demonstrate their applied knowledge, skills and experiences against these essential role requirements of the Team Leader leadership stream:

• Experience and understanding of the assessment, risk management and case management of high risk and serious offenders;
• Demonstrated community and stakeholder engagement and relationship management, including with special interest groups at a senior management level;
• Strong management capabilities with the ability to motivate, coach, mentor and encourage others to meet high standards.
• Ability to gain knowledge and understanding of offender assessment intervention and treatment planning;
• Demonstrated ability to provide operational and strategic advice in relation to sentence management functions for prisoners
• managed, or referred for consideration for, maximum security order management;
• Demonstrated high level communication and interpretation skills, including negotiation, and conflict resolution skills for liaising with management and staff at all levels, to gain commitments and negotiate service delivery, priorities, deadlines, resources, and other relevant issues; and
• Demonstrated knowledge, interpretation, and application of legislation, policies and procedures.
