Job summary

H&R Deluxe Stairs Pty Ltd – Smithfield NSW is seeking a passionate Staircase Joiner/Apprentice Joiner to manufacture timber staircases from shop drawings to final assembly and install. The role emphasizes craftsmanship, accuracy and safety while supporting the site team during installation of stairs, balustrades and related components.

Training will be provided, with exposure to CNC machinery, joinery processes and Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in joinery or staircase manufacturing is preferred; full training will be provided.

Staircase Joiner/Apprentice Joiner to join our growing team, producing high-quality staircases for builders in the residential industry. This role involves manufacturing timber staircases from shop drawings through to final assembly and install, with a strong focus on craftsmanship, accuracy, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture timber staircases including treads, risers, stringers, handrails, and balustrade components


• Interpret and work from shop drawings, plans, and specifications


• Measure, cut, assemble, and finish staircase components to a high standard


• Work with solid timber, glass, aluminum and other materials


• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop learning the day-to-day operations


• Identify and resolve manufacturing issues proactively


• Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently


• Working onsite with our site team installing manufactured stairs, aluminium balustrades and glass balustrades


• Good time management, focused on completing tasks efficiently to a high standard


• White Card


• Valid White Card must be held before commencing employment


• Current NSW driver's license preferable but not necessary

What you will learn

• Experience in staircase manufacturing, joinery, or fine carpentry is preferred however full training will be given to all applicants


• Some trade exposure in joinery or carpentry is preferred


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings


• High attention to detail and pride in workmanship


• Experience with CNC, machinery, hand and power tools


• Understanding of stair construction methods and Australian Standards


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• White Card


• Valid White Card must be held before commencing employment


• Current NSW driver's license preferable but not necessary
