Job summary

Buildkite is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Releases team. You will own the technical direction of the release control plane, shaping architecture, data models, and cross‑team integrations that power governance and progressive delivery.

This role combines hands-on coding with strategic leadership in a remote‑first environment. You’ll partner with engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver scalable, auditable release workflows, canary analyses, and rollout strategies that align

Qualifications

• Experience designing event-driven or audit-log systems.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and deploying containerised applications.
• Background integrating with source control and CI/CD platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction for the Releases platform and data model.
• Lead key decisions around security, reliability, and scale.
• Drive cross-system integrations (Pipelines, GitHub Deployments).
• Build, scale, and improve release tooling and workflows.
• Mentor engineers and share engineering best practices.
