Job summary

Nearmap is creating a new Platform Engineering role to shape the discipline from the ground up. You will lead the shift from DevOps to platform-as-a-product, building golden paths, self-service tools and reusable components that let our engineering teams ship independently, safely and fast.

Within the Platform team, you’ll design, build and operate cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and observability platforms. You’ll treat the platform as a product and engineering teams as your customers, owning

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in a platform or infrastructure engineering role.
• 3+ years with public cloud infrastructure, AWS preferred.
• Experience designing containerisation solutions with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong Linux infrastructure and cloud-native workloads.
• Extensive Terraform IaC experience.
• Experience designing CI/CD, logging, and monitoring tools for development teams.
• Experience implementing observability tools within Kubernetes and cloud workloads.
• Scripting and deployment automation experience.
• Experience working in a highly available production environment.
• Consulting or working in scale-driven environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Treat engineering teams as customers and gather platform requirements.
• Build self-service capabilities, golden paths, and reusable components.
• Design, build, and maintain platform tooling and automation across the SDLC.
• Use CI/CD platforms to automate provisioning, builds, tests, and releases.
• Write and deploy Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Maintain high availability of infrastructure and platforms, improve monitoring.
• Implement security controls as code, IAM least-privilege, secrets management.
• Educate teams on platform engineering practices and cloud security.
• Participate in design reviews and architecture decisions.
