Job summary

Canva's Mobile Platform team is looking for a senior build and release engineer to own the Bazel/Gradle/Xcode pipelines, migrate mobile repos into a unified monorepo, and define the scalable React Native build flow.

You will shape release tooling, set quality gates in CI/CD, and collaborate across Mobile Workflows, Cross Platform, and Native Infra to deliver reliable, scalable foundations.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on expertise with Bazel, Gradle, or Xcode build systems at production scale.
• Experience delivering complex cross-team migrations and monorepo work.
• Strong native mobile engineering background in iOS/Android.
• Experience owning CI/CD or release pipelines that teams depend on.
• Ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term architecture.
• Documentation and standards setting that become references for others.

Responsibilities

• Build architecture: own roadmap for Bazel build rules, React Native bundling, and codegen.
• Release infrastructure: mature mobile release tooling including OTA and staged rollout.
• Monorepo migration: lead staged migrations of mobile repos into Canva's monorepo.
• CI/CD strategy: set quality gates across the build pipeline.
• Cross-platform foundations: evolve React Native pipeline for web and mobile.
• Stakeholder alignment: coordinate across Mobile Workflows, Cross Platform, Build Platform, and DevX.
• Team leverage: mentor engineers and establish enduring standards.
