oOh!media in Sydney is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own a core commercial domain that manages inventory availability and campaign scheduling across our national network. You will balance hands-on delivery with architecture leadership while collaborating with stakeholders.

You’ll lead architecture, drive observability, modernise platforms, and mentor engineers, delivering high-throughput, event-driven backend systems on AWS (Golang/Node.js).

Qualifications

• Proven Staff or senior backend engineer with production depth in Golang or Node.js.
• Experience building event-driven, serverless AWS systems.
• Strong focus on data integrity, observability and reliability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Own the sub domain's technical strategy and roadmap.
• Deliver complex backend work and establish reusable patterns.
• Design for correctness and performance in high-throughput systems.
• Establish end-to-end observability with SLIs and SLOs.
• Lead platform modernization and service decommissioning.
• Mature CI/CD with automated testing and safe rollbacks.
• Lead design and PR reviews, mentoring engineers.
• Represent engineering in domain discussions.
• Champion AI-assisted tooling to boost productivity.
• Prioritize simple solutions balancing value and constraints.
