Job summary

oOh!media is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own a core commercial domain that manages inventory and campaign scheduling across our national network. You will lead architecture, deliver high‑throughput backend work in Golang/Node.js, and stay hands-on while guiding others.

This role balances delivery with technical leadership, architecture reviews, and collaboration with stakeholders to drive platform modernization, observability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Senior backend engineer with production depth in Golang or Node.js.
• Hands-on experience building and operating event-driven, serverless AWS systems.
• Track record protecting data integrity in high-throughput and concurrent systems.
• Strong observability and reliability practice, including distributed tracing and SLIs/SLOs.
• Demonstrated technical leadership without relying on line authority, through mentoring and reviews.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across technical and commercial audiences.
• Experience with databases such as DynamoDB or Aurora; CI/CD and IaC (CDK).
• Experience modernising legacy services and applying AI-native practices; AdTech or scheduling experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own the sub domain’s technical strategy, architecture and technology roadmap, in alignment with engineering leadership.
• Deliver complex, high-leverage backend engineering work and establish reusable patterns.
• Design for correctness, data integrity and performance in high-throughput systems.
• Establish end-to-end observability, including distributed tracing, SLIs and SLOs for critical paths.
• Lead platform modernisation, including evolution, migration and decommissioning of services.
• Mature CI/CD with automated testing and reliable rollback.
• Lead design and PR reviews, and mentor engineers through practical hands-on leadership.
• Provide technical input behind delivery commitments and represent engineering in domain discussions.
• Champion AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and quality.
• Prioritise simple, pragmatic solutions balancing business value and future needs.
