Job summary

Testing Site - JPMC in Sydney seeks a Site Reliability Engineer II to help ensure reliable, scalable production payment flows within APAC Payments Production Management. You will work with cross-functional teams to reduce toil through automation and observability, supporting critical payments services.

The role focuses on incident management, runbooks, and data-driven operations, with a rostered on-call rotation for high-severity incidents. Strong Linux, CI/CD, and scripting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, resolving, and maintaining production or customer-facing systems.
• Familiarity with SRE principles and practices (SLI/SLOs, error budgets, incident lifecycle, post-incident review).
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language or scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation.
• Working knowledge of observability concepts and tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk).
• Foundational understanding of Linux, networking fundamentals, and CI/CD and version control (Git).
• Ability to prioritize, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and collaborate in a large team environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to end-to-end application and infrastructure service delivery supporting critical payments services.
• Support day-to-day maintenance and change activities to ensure stability and availability.
• Monitor production environments, investigate anomalies, and restore service using standard observability tools.
• Participate in incident triage, recovery, root-cause analysis, and post-incident reviews; document and improve runbooks.
• Identify manual toil and implement small-to-medium automation to improve reliability and response times.
• Help define and improve SLI/SLO dashboards, alerting, and telemetry to drive data-informed operations.
• Participate in a rostered, as-needed on-call rotation to restore critical production services during high-severity incidents.
