Job summary

Persistent Ltd. in Sydney is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to build and deliver robust front-end features for banking products using Next.js, React, and GraphQL. You will work with product, design, and backend teams to ship end-to-end solutions.

You will mentor juniors, lead design reviews, ensure security and performance, and contribute to CI/CD improvements in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in front-end technologies.
• Production experience with Next.js (SSR/SSG/App Router).
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerized deployments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop full-stack features using Next.js and Node.js across banking products.
• Design and maintain GraphQL APIs—schemas, resolvers, subscriptions, and federated services.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver end-to-end features from spec to production.
• Lead technical design discussions, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
• Ensure applications meet banking-grade security, compliance (PCI-DSS, APRA), and performance standards.
• Drive improvements to CI/CD pipelines, test coverage, and observability practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for production systems.

What You'll Do:

• Architect and develop full-stack features using Next.js and Node.js across consumer and corporate banking products.
• Design and maintain GraphQL APIs — schemas, resolvers, subscriptions, and federated services.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver end-to-end features from spec to production.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerised deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong grasp of web security fundamentals — OAuth 2.0, JWT, HTTPS, OWASP Top 10.
