Job summary

Komatsu Australia is seeking an experienced Spray Painter to join the Mackay workshop team at Connors Road. You will apply high-quality finishes and protective coatings to mining equipment, components and stands, maintaining safety and efficiency while contributing to refurbishment projects.

You will work with a skilled team in a hands-on role, upholding Komatsu quality standards, reporting issues, and completing documentation.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification within spray painting, automotive refinishing or equivalent.
• Experience applying protective coatings and high-quality finishes to equipment and components.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Apply high-quality paint finishes and protective coatings to mining equipment, components and stands.
• Ensure all painting and trade-related work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Maintain workshop equipment, tooling and a clean, safe work environment.
• Identify and report quality issues, helping minimise rework and maintain customer standards.
• Complete required job documentation and quality checks in line with Komatsu procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote safe work practices.

The Opportunity

Komatsu is seeking an experienced Spray Painter to join our Mackay workshop team.

Working from our Connors Road facility, you'll be responsible for applying high-quality finishes and protective coatings to mining equipment, components and stands, ensuring durability, quality and visual appeal.

This is a hands‑on role where you'll work as part of a skilled workshop team, maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and efficiency while contributing to the preparation and refurbishment of Komatsu equipment.

What you’ll do

• Apply high-quality paint finishes and protective coatings to mining equipment, components and stands.
• Ensure all painting and trade-related work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Maintain workshop equipment, tooling and a clean, safe work environment.
• Identify and report quality issues, helping minimise rework and maintain customer standards.
• Complete required job documentation and quality checks in line with Komatsu procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote safe work practices.

Hourly Rate: $46.08 - $47.79 p/h base + Super + O/T

Role Located: Connors Road, Mackay

Roster: Monday to Friday – 6:00am to 2:30pm

What We Are Looking For

• Trade qualification within spray painting, automotive refinishing or equivalent
• Experience applying protective coatings and high-quality finishes to equipment and components.
• Previous experience working with mining equipment, heavy machinery or similar OEM environments will be highly regarded.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a workshop team.
• Current driver's licence and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
