Job summary

Gallagher Bassett is hiring a senior claims team leader in Australia to provide day-to-day leadership and technical coaching for a hybrid portfolio of claims, including Medical Negligence, Historic Abuse, and Professional Indemnity. The role emphasizes leadership, staff development, and strong client relationships.

You will drive quality assurance, process improvements, and ensure cost-effective, professional, and customer-focused claims service while managing performance against SLAs.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years insurance experience with 3 years management experience
• Strong technical expertise in General Liability, Historic Abuse and/or Professional Indemnity claims handling
• Ability to build and develop business relationships with clients and service providers
• Insurance policy interpretation skills
• Stakeholder management and negotiation abilities

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and technical mentoring to the team
• Oversee a hybrid portfolio of claims including Medical Negligence, Historic Abuse and others
• Lead quality assurance activities; audit results and data integrity
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and prevent recurring incidents
• Manage team performance against targets and SLAs
• Recruit and develop staff; ensure appropriate team capability
• Approve payments, letters and mediations outside of delegations
