IAG is seeking a Specialist Data Analytics Engineer to join the Customer & Employee Data team in Sydney. This role blends data engineering with analytics to transform complex customer data into actionable business outcomes, working with cloud-native tech and AI-driven practices.

You will design data pipelines, lead data products, ensure data quality and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver trusted insights.

Competenze

• Extensive experience in Data Engineering with large-scale enterprise data platforms.
• Strong expertise in SQL, Python, DBT, Airflow and modern data engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including BigQuery and related services.
• Deep understanding of data modelling, ETL, governance and security principles.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and IaC tools like Terraform.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to translate complex concepts into business outcomes.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development and modern data innovation practices is valued.

We're looking for a Specialist Data Analytics Engineer to join our Customer & Employee Data team, helping transform complex customer data into meaningful business outcomes. This role combines data engineering with a strong analytical focus, requiring someone who can investigate data issues, perform reconciliation and testing, identify root causes, and deliver trusted data solutions. Leveraging modern data technologies, cloud platforms and AI-driven practices, you'll work closely with stakeholders to uncover insights, solve complex problems, and ensure data quality, accuracy and reliability across the business. This is a permanent full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney).

What You'll Do

• Design, develop and optimise complex data pipelines and transformation frameworks using SQL, DBT and cloud-native technologies.
• Lead the development of scalable, high-quality data products that support multiple business domains and operational environments.
• Conduct code reviews, ensuring engineering standards, maintainability and best practices are consistently applied.
• Build and maintain APIs to enable seamless data integration and accessibility across platforms.
• Drive innovation through automation, experimentation and AI-assisted development practices.
• Analyse customer and employee data to identify trends, anomalies and opportunities that drive business outcomes.
• Mentor team members and provide technical leadership across solution design and delivery.
• Monitor data product performance, observability and quality, using insights to continuously improve outcomes

What You'll Bring

• Extensive experience in Data Engineering, including working with large-scale enterprise data platforms.
• Strong expertise in SQL, Python, DBT, Airflow, NOSQL, Spark, Terraform, GitHub and modern data engineering practices.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery, Composer, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Dataflow and Pub/Sub.
• Deep understanding of data modelling, architecture, ETL processes, data governance and security principles.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development and modern data innovation practices will be highly regarded.
