Job summary

Monash Special Developmental School in Wheelers Hill, Melbourne, seeks an experienced classroom teacher to deliver specialised programs for students with complex needs. The role focuses on planning, preparing and teaching to meet student outcomes within the Structured Teaching framework.

You will work in a collaborative, evidence-based environment with strong coaching, professional learning, and opportunities for career growth across a range of specialist programs.

Qualifications

• Commitment to Special Education and understanding of Intellectual Disability/Autism.
• Ability to plan and implement programs aligned to the Victorian Curriculum.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills and collaborative relationships.
• Experience in monitoring student learning using data to inform practice.
• Support social development and Positive Behaviour Support in students.
• Ability to contribute to school-wide initiatives and professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.
• Contribute to curriculum development and program delivery within the school.
• Undertake duties aligned with school priorities and teaching responsibilities.
• Engage with parents, staff and the school community to support students.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers where applicable.
