Job summary

School District 27J is seeking a paraprofessional aide to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with severe disabilities in both special education and general education classrooms. You will modify materials, collect data, and collaborate with teachers and therapists to implement IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans.

Responsibilities include direct instruction, supervising students, assisting with clerical tasks, and attending trainings.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and handbooks.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or obtainable within 2 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and/or academic support for students with disabilities in both special education and general education settings.
• Modify materials and classroom environment under supervision of teachers.
• Monitor safety and supervise students in common areas such as lunchroom and playground.
• De-escalate students using CPI methods and follow Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Maintain forms and records as requested by educators and therapists.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and attend trainings and student staffings.
