Job summary

School District 27J seeks a dedicated paraprofessional to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with severe disabilities in both special education and general education settings. You will modify materials, assist teachers, collect data, and help with life skills and personal care under supervision.

The role requires lifting up to 100 pounds, adherence to IEP/BIP guidelines, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), IEPs, and staff/student handbooks.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and basic correspondences.
• Ability to apply basic math concepts.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or obtainable within 2 months of hire.
• Must pass post-offer, pre-employment physical.
• Must pass Colorado and FBI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and supervision for students with disabilities in special education and general education classrooms.
• Modify academic materials and classroom environment under guidance from specialists.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Enforce behavior intervention plans and monitor safety in school and during activities.
• Maintain required forms and records as requested.
• De-escalate students using CPI measures and implement behavior plans.
• Communicate observations and progress with teachers and therapists.
• Assist with minor clerical duties and attend trainings.
• Attend student staffing as requested and collaborate with the education team.
• Follow daily routines to ensure consistency for each student.
