Job summary

School District 27J seeks a dedicated paraeducator to provide direct instruction and academic support for students with disabilities in both special and general education classrooms. You will modify materials, collect data, and maintain records under the direction of the Special Education team.

Responsibilities include implementing Behavior Intervention Plans, de-escalating students with CPI, and communicating progress to teachers and therapists.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and handbooks.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or obtainable within 2 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and academic support for students with disabilities in special and general education settings.
• Modify materials and classroom environment under supervision of teachers.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow through with behavior intervention plans and monitor student safety.
• Maintain forms and records as requested by teachers and therapists.
• De-escalate students using CPI measures as prescribed.
• Communicate observations and progress with the education team.
• Assist with minor clerical duties and attend required trainings.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and follow the special education team guidance.
• Follow daily routines including toileting and feeding as needed.
