Job summary

Join The Shadbolt Group in NSW for a Special Class Welder role on a Defence project. You will perform high-quality structural welding within a collaborative team, delivering on complex naval fabrication with a focus on safety and workmanship.

Australian citizenship is mandatory, with trade qualification and FCAW experience required. FIFO 3:1 roster, flights, accommodation and vehicle provided, plus robust training and long-term opportunities.

Qualifications

• Australian Citizenship (Defence requirement).
• Trade qualifications as a Special Class Welder.
• Recent experience welding FCAW.
• Proven structural welding experience.
• Shipbuilding or naval construction experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of AS 1554.1 and high-integrity welding practices.
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and clear Police Check.

About the Role

As a Special Class Welder, you’ll perform high-quality structural welding on complex Defence projects while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, quality and safety.

Working within a collaborative team environment, you’ll contribute to building Australia's future naval capability while developing your skills on some of the country's most exciting engineering projects.

What You’ll Bring

To be successful, you’ll have:

• Australian Citizenship (mandatory due to Defence requirements)
• Trade qualifications as a Special Class Welder
• Recent experience welding FCAW
• Proven structural welding experience
• Previous shipbuilding or naval construction experience
• Strong knowledge of AS 1554.1 and high-integrity welding practices
• Commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment
• Ability to obtain a clear Federal Police Check
• Successful completion of a pre-employment weld test
