Job summary

The Shadbolt Group is seeking an experienced Special Class Welder for a long‑term FIFO role to support Australia’s Defence shipbuilding programs. You will weld structural assemblies to exacting standards, work on complex Naval projects, and join a skilled team on a secure roster with flights, accommodation and vehicles provided.

Applicants must hold a Special Class Welder trade qualification, have proven structural welding experience including FCAW, and be able to pass pre‑employment checks.

About The Role

As a Special Class Welder, you'll perform high-quality structural welding on complex Defence projects while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, quality and safety.

Working within a collaborative team environment, you'll contribute to building Australia's future naval capability while developing your skills on some of the country's most exciting engineering projects.

To Be Successful, You'll Have

• Australian Citizenship (mandatory due to Defence requirements)
• Trade qualifications as a Special Class Welder
• Proven structural welding experience
• Recent experience welding FCAW
• Previous shipbuilding or naval construction experience
• Strong knowledge of AS 1554.1 and high-integrity welding practices
• Commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment
• Ability to obtain a clear Federal Police Check
• Successful completion of a pre-employment weld test
