Job summary

Luvo is seeking experienced Hull Welders in Adelaide to join one of Australia’s significant defence programs, supporting the construction of Hunter Class Frigates. You will perform structural welding on complex naval vessel modules, ensuring high quality standards.

This role offers long-term stability, competitive rates, and ongoing training within modern facilities. Ideal candidates will have trade qualifications, extensive welding experience, and a commitment to safety in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification as a Boilermaker, Fabricator, Welder or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience with MIG and/or Flux Core Welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MIG and Flux Core Arc Welding on structural steel components.
  • Weld ship sections, hull structures, and bulkheads.

Hull Welder / FCAW Welder - Defence Shipbuilding- Adelaide- Contract - Full Time---* Long term role* Work with one of the biggst names in defence* Osborne Naval Shipyard locationWe are seeking experienced Hull Welders to join one of Australia's largest and most significant defence programs, supporting the construction of the next generation Hunter Class Frigates at the Osborne Naval Shipyard. Working within a highly skilled shipbuilding environment, you will be responsible for performing structural welding and fabrication activities on complex naval vessel modules, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This is an opportunity to secure long-term employment on a nationally significant defence project with genuine career development opportunities and ongoing investment in training and upskilling. **Key Responsibilities** * Perform high-quality MIG and Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) on structural steel components.* Weld ship sections, hull structures, bulkheads, foundations and supporting assemblies.* Interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures and technical specifications.* Complete fabrication, fit-up and welding activities in accordance with project requirements.* Ensure all welds meet quality standards and inspection criteria.* Identify and rectify welding defects where required.* Maintain welding equipment, tools and consumables.* Support continuous improvement initiatives across production activities.* Work collaboratively with supervisors, planners, inspectors and fellow tradespeople.* Maintain accurate completion records and documentation.* Comply with all workplace safety, environmental and quality requirements.**Skills & ExperienceEssential** * Trade qualification as a Boilermaker, Fabricator, Welder or equivalent.* Demonstrated experience with MIG and/or Flux Core Welding.* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans.* Strong understanding of safe work practices within a heavy industrial environment.* High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.* Ability to work effectively within a team environment.* Strong communication skills.**Desirable** * Shipbuilding, marine or naval construction experience.* Heavy fabrication or structural steel experience.* Experience working on defence, mining, oil & gas or major infrastructure projects.* Current welding certifications.* Experience working to coded welding procedures.* Forklift, dogging, rigging or overhead crane licences.* Working at Heights certification.* Confined Space certification. **What We're Looking For** The ideal candidate will be a safety-focused tradesperson who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working on large-scale engineering projects.
