Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Software Engineer to join a highly specialised multidisciplinary engineering team working on space domain awareness and mission-critical software systems in Canberra.

The role accommodates junior and senior levels, offering design, development, integration and support of software for next-generation telescope and laser operations in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' professional Software Engineering experience.
• Experience working within Windows and Linux environments.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and source control tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain a Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software systems supporting telescope and laser operations.
• Deliver robust and high-performance software solutions for mission-critical environments.
• Support system integration, verification and validation activities.
• Collaborate with software, systems, hardware and optical engineering teams.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks and DevOps practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug and perform root-cause analysis on complex technical issues.
• Support distributed processing and real-time software environments.
• Develop visualisation tools, operational interfaces and supporting applications.
• Ensure solutions meet operational, reliability and safety requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of software quality and engineering standards
• Minimum 3 years' professional Software Engineering experience.

• Experience with unit, integration and system-level testing.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and source control tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
