Job summary

Saab Australia is seeking a Space Software Engineer to join an agile, multidisciplinary team developing real-time space domain products for situational awareness and mission operations. You will design, develop, integrate and test software; contribute to UI, data integrations, and core system functionality.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript or C#.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development principles.
• Experience applying design patterns and software frameworks to solve technical and architectural challenges.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and systems engineering practices.
• Experience interpreting and applying software engineering standards and best practices.
• Understanding of configuration management, including Git, for version control.
• Experience in front-end development (web apps) and back-end development (APIs, microservices, containers).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance software components using modern SDKs and frameworks to deliver new product capabilities.
• Maintain and improve existing applications with quality code and updated documentation.
• Contribute to solution design with architecture descriptions, diagrams and process flows.
• Perform integration testing to validate functionality and requirements.
• Support secure CI/CD pipelines for Space Domain products.
• Identify and communicate technical risks to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to meet roadmap goals.
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through effective communication.
