Job summary

Electro Optic Systems in Australia seeks a Mechanical Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership, governance, and people leadership across the mechanical engineering function for advanced opto-mechanical and electro-optical systems.

You will lead a team of engineers through concept, development, verification, and production, establishing design standards, performing risk assessments, and overseeing analyses such as structural, thermal, and fatigue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering; professional registration/CPEng desirable.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary mechanical teams on complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior technical authority for mechanical design and engineering activities.
• Lead development of complex opto-mechanical systems from concept to production.
• Establish engineering standards, governance processes, and design practices.
• Review and approve engineering designs, analyses, and documentation.
• Lead risk assessments and trade studies for optimal outcomes.
• Drive best-practice DFx (DFM, DFA, DFC) and manage design changes.
