Job summary

Electro Optic Systems in Australia is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Opto-Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and integration of precision optical assemblies.

Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will develop CAD models, perform FEA, support prototyping, testing, and qualification, and collaborate with Optical Engineers to ensure robust performance in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace required.
• Postgraduate optics/photonics/systems engineering desirable.
• 5–10+ years in mechanical or opto‑mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design opto‑mechanical assemblies, housings, mounts, and fixtures.
• Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
• Perform structural, thermal, vibration, and finite element analyses (FEA).
• Collaborate with Optical Engineers to integrate lenses, mirrors, detectors, cameras, and laser systems.
• Support prototyping, testing, verification, and qualification activities.
