Job summary

The University of Western Australia is seeking a Space Data Assistant to maintain and enrich space management records, floor plans, and spatial information systems on a full-time basis. Based on the Crawley campus, you will support data-driven campus planning and stakeholder collaboration.

You will work with databases, CAD drawings, and spatial information systems, ensuring accurate data, engaging with faculties and external consultants, and contributing to continuous improvement in space

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate IV level qualification or equivalent education, training and experience.
• Experience with databases, spreadsheets, data management systems and maintaining accurate data/records.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to manage large data volumes and floor plan information.
• Ability to interpret floor plans, drawings, and spatial information; familiarity with CAD drawings or related spatial information systems.
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills with a collaborative approach.

• Conduct space audits, utilisation reviews, occupancy and capacity assessments, and analyse space-related data to support campus planning and reporting.

• Help shape how one of Australia’s leading universities plans and manages its campus spaces.
• Develop valuable experience in space management, data analysis, facilities planning, and spatial information systems.
• Full-time appointment on an ongoing basis.
• Base salary range: $80,293– $85,291 plus 17% superannuation.

About The Area

Campus Management is responsible for planning, developing, managing and operating UWA’s physical estate and infrastructure. The team delivers property, facilities, asset management and capital works services that support teaching, research and campus life across the University.

Within Campus Management, the Estate Strategy team provides specialist expertise in space planning and management, ensuring the University’s physical spaces are effectively recorded, utilised and planned to meet future needs. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate space information and supporting evidence-based decision making across the University. Based on the beautiful Crawley campus, you will work closely with stakeholders across faculties, professional teams and external consultants.

About The Opportunity

• Maintain and improve the University’s space management records, databases, floor plans and spatial information systems, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, compliance with recognised space management standards, and supporting external benchmarking and reporting requirements.
• Conduct space audits, utilisation reviews, occupancy and capacity assessments, and analyse space-related data to support campus planning, benchmarking, reporting and informed decision-making.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to manage space information requests, support signage and wayfinding initiatives, assist with space allocation processes, and contribute to space management projects and continuous improvement activities.

About You

• Relevant qualification at Diploma or Certificate IV level, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, data management systems or similar business information platforms, including maintaining accurate data and records.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and work confidently with large volumes of data, documentation, and floor plan information.
• Ability to interpret floor plans, drawings, diagrams or spatial information, supported by well-developed graphical communication skills and familiarity with CAD drawings or related spatial information systems.
• Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative, customer-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.
