Job summary

Cleanaway is hiring Sorters at Rooty Hill to support the on-site processing of materials. This casual role offers flexible morning and night shifts, typically 3–4 hours, with potential to increase to up to 5 shifts per week.

You will safely sort recyclables on a fast-moving conveyor, wear PPE, and work in an industrial environment. A reliable attitude, initiative and teamwork are highly valued, with ongoing training and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

• Safely sort and separate recyclable materials on a fast-moving conveyor belt.
• Remove contaminants by hand while wearing PPE (gloves, mask, safety glasses, hearing protection).
• Work at heights from an elevated platform.
• Remain on your feet for extended periods with breaks as scheduled.
• Regularly bend, reach and lean over the conveyor belt to remove items.
• Collaborate with team to keep the plant and processing line operating smoothly.
• Follow all site safety procedures and operational instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
• Identify and report hazards, risks and issues as they arise.
• Assist with general site and housekeeping duties as required.

About the role

As a Sorter, you will play an important part in the safe and efficient processing of materials on site. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is dependable, switched on, and comfortable working in an industrial environment.

Flexible morning and night fill shifts, with most shifts running for 3-4 hours. This casual role is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door, with reliable team members having the potential to increase to up to 5 shifts per week. Perfect for someone looking for flexibility, extra income, and the chance to grow their hours over time.

In this role, you will:

• Safely sort and separate recyclable materials on a fast-moving conveyor belt.
• Remove contaminants by hand while wearing the required PPE, including gloves, a face mask, safety glasses and hearing protection.
• Work at heights from an elevated platform.
• Remain on your feet for most of the shift, with scheduled meal and fatigue breaks.
• Regularly bend, reach and lean over the conveyor belt to remove unwanted items.
• Collaborate with your team to ensure the plant and processing line operate efficiently.
• Follow all site safety procedures and operational instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
• Identify and report hazards, risks and operational issues as they arise.
• Assist with general site and housekeeping duties as required.
