Rick Shores on Burleigh Heads foreshore is seeking an experienced Sommelier to lead our beverage program and elevate guest experiences with expert wine knowledge and service.

As Sommelier you will curate the wine list, train staff, lead wine sales on the restaurant floor, and collaborate with kitchen for perfect pairings. Competitive salary $80,000-$85,000 per annum.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Hospitality or equivalent with at least 1 year full-time wine service experience, or 3 years relevant experience.
• Previous sommelier or wine waiter experience in a high-quality restaurant.
• WSET Level 2 or 3 qualifications (highly regarded).
• Current RSA certification.
• Strong knowledge of domestic and international wines with the ability to pair wine and food creatively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for customer service.

Responsabilités

• Curate and manage the venue’s wine program in collaboration with Venue Management and Group Beverage leadership.
• Develop and maintain a balanced wine list featuring directly sourced, boutique, eclectic, progressive, classic domestic, and international producers.
• Train and mentor front-of-house staff on wine styles, flavours, and food pairing recommendations.
• Lead wine sales on the restaurant floor, ensuring correct presentation and upselling to maximise profitability.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to design harmonious food and wine pairings.
• Organise and manage wine stock efficiently, ensuring systems are easy for all staff to follow.
• Assist in ordering within budgetary parameters and financial guidelines.
• Support the Management Team in upholding company service standards.

Rick Shores is seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier to join our team. Situated on the stunning Burleigh Heads foreshore, Rick Shores is renowned for delivering exceptional dining experiences.

As Sommelier, you will play a key role in curating and delivering our beverage program while elevating the guest experience through expert wine knowledge and service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curate and manage the venue’s wine program in collaboration with Venue Management and Group Beverage leadership
• Develop and maintain a balanced wine list featuring directly sourced, boutique, eclectic, progressive, classic domestic, and international producers
• Train and mentor front-of-house staff on wine styles, flavours, and food pairing recommendations Lead wine sales on the restaurant floor, ensuring correct presentation and upselling to maximise profitability

Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate III in Hospitality or equivalent plus at least 1 year of full-time relevant experience, OR 3 years of full-time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification
• Previous experience as a Wine Waiter or Sommelier in a high-quality restaurant environment WSET Level 2 or 3 qualifications (highly regarded)
• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
• Strong knowledge of domestic and international wines, with the ability to pair wine and food creatively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for customer service.

Competitive salary $80,000-$85,000 per annum
