About the opportunity

A specialist Australian technology and infrastructure business is looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to join its Melbourne team.

The business specialises in designing and delivering complex enterprise infrastructure, storage, compute, virtualisation, networking and data centre solutions for a range of customers.

This is an opportunity for a technically strong infrastructure professional to move beyond traditional systems administration and take ownership of solution design, architecture and customer engagements.

The role

Working across the solutions and engineering teams, the Solution Architect will work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements and translate them into practical, scalable infrastructure solutions.

The role will involve:

• Working directly with customers to understand infrastructure and storage requirements
• Designing enterprise storage and infrastructure solutions across hardware, software and networking
• Developing high level and detailed solution architectures
• Assessing existing environments and conducting technical feasibility studies
• Designing solutions across SAN, NAS and object storage environments
• Providing technical guidance to engineering and implementation teams
• Supporting solution demonstrations, technical presentations and proposals
• Working closely with sales, engineering and project teams throughout the solution lifecycle
• Producing technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configurations and implementation plans
• Supporting troubleshooting, optimisation and technical problem resolution
• Staying current with emerging storage, infrastructure and data centre technologies

What they're looking for

The successful candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, infrastructure or solution architecture, with approximately 5 to 7+ years of relevant experience.

Ideally, they will bring experience across:

• Enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS and object storage
• Linux, particularly Red Hat or SUSE
• Red Hat, SUSE and Gluster environments
• VMware, Hyper V or other virtualisation technologies
• Hyper Converged Infrastructure
• Cloud storage technologies such as AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage
• Networking fundamentals and infrastructure connectivity
• Infrastructure design, architecture and implementation
• Technical documentation and solution design
• Customer facing technical consulting or professional services

Experience with Red Hat or SUSE certifications would be advantageous.

This role would suit someone who has come from a Senior Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Storage Engineer, Solutions Engineer or Solution Architect background and wants to take greater ownership of architecture and customer solutions.

The successful candidate will be comfortable getting into the technical detail while also being able to communicate complex infrastructure concepts clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
