Job summary

Protech Group in Sydney, NSW, is seeking a Senior Draftsperson with advanced SolidWorks skills to turn customer ideas into fabrication-ready designs for water storage tanks and related structures. Work on-site at our St Marys factory, collaborating with an experienced engineering team on a busy project pipeline and tight deadlines.

You will model tanks, silos, platforms and structural steelwork in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, produce BOMs and manufacturing drawings, and oversee final designs for

Qualifications

• Extensive SolidWorks experience.
• Experience designing for manufacture.
• Understanding of fabrication/manufacturing environments.
• Experience producing accurate manufacturing drawings.
• Drafting tanks, silos, platforms or structural steelwork.
• Understanding cutting, folding, welding and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards AS1657/AS1210/AS2304/AS4100/AS4600.
• Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.
• Valid Australian driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage drawings for tanks, silos, platforms, and structural steelwork.
• 3D modelling; create complex mechanical assemblies and large-scale models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Produce manufacturing-ready SolidWorks models and drawings.
• Create Bills of Materials and manufacturing documentation.
• Work with production teams to solve manufacturing challenges.
• Own projects from concept through to production.
• Drive ongoing product and manufacturing improvements.

Senior Draftsperson – Solidworks Steel/Sheet Metal professional
$130k + Super
ST MARYS NSW
Protech have partnered with a busy AU custom build/design business for Water storage solutions/Tanks.
We are looking for a professional SolidWorks designer to work on site in the St Marys factory.
You’ll turn customer ideas into designs that fabricators can then build, working a few meters from where they’re being made.
You will be able to hit the ground running with a pipeline of projects waiting for you to start ASAP.

The role will see you working in a busy yet experienced engineering design team with extensive Technical Designs in Solidworks.
Duties will include the following;

• Prepare and manage comprehensive drawings, plans, and designs for tanks, silos, platforms, and structural steelwork.
• 3D Modelling; Create complex mechanical assemblies and large-scale models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Produce highly accurate general assembly drawings, detailed construction packages, sheet metal details, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to a strict fabrication-ready standard.
• Produce accurate manufacturing-ready SolidWorks models and drawings and oversee the final designs of other team members
• Create Bills of Materials and manufacturing documentation.
• Work directly with production teams to solve manufacturing challenges.
• Validate designs against practical manufacturing and fabrication constraints.
• Own projects from concept through to production.
• Drive ongoing product and manufacturing improvements.

What We’re Looking for;

• Extensive SolidWorks experience.
• Proven experience designing products for manufacture.
• Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing environments.
• Experience producing accurate manufacturing drawings.
• Previous exposure drafting tanks, silos, platforms, or structural steelwork.
• Strong understanding of cutting, folding, welding and assembly processes.
• Deep practical understanding of structural drafting and sheet metal Standards – Preferred knowledge of Australian Standards including AS1657, AS1210, AS2304, AS4100, and AS4600.
• Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Australian Drivers licence/ access to vehicle
