Job summary

Dentons Australia seeks a Solicitor or Associate with 1–3 years PQE to join our Perth Employment & Safety team. You’ll handle investigations, litigation, and advising employers on workplace matters, including matters referred from our international offices.

You will work with senior lawyers and have opportunities for ongoing professional development and career progression. You will manage end-to-end matters, draft clear advice, maintain client relationships, and support hearings at the Fair

Qualifications

• PQE: 1–3 years in employment law or litigation.
• Knowledge of legislation, common law and employer strategy.
• Experience running matters end to end for your PQE level.

Dentons' Employment & Safety practice is a national practice that specialises in a broad range of workplace, employment, and safety matters.

We are seeking a Solicitor or Associate (1 to 3 years PQE) who has developed and looking to further develop skills in conducting investigations and litigation, to join our team in Perth. In this role you can expect to work across a broad range of clients, including clients who are referred to Dentons by our international offices.

You will have the opportunity to be regularly involved in litigation, including defending claims at the Fair Work Commission, conducting investigations and advising both local and global employers on the full range of issues that can arise during the employment relationship. We have active matters with one of our largest clients, defending claims made in the Fair Work Commission and you will work across an entire stream of claims and support a dedicated national team of Lawyers and Paralegals, as well as appear as advocate in the Fair Work Commission hearings with their support.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, common law and the best strategy for employers. You will also be expected to:

• run matters end to end as deemed appropriate for your PQE level;
• exhibit strong drafting and communication skills with a particular emphasis on commerciality and clarity in advice;
• manage client relationships;
• identify risks and issues promptly and raise them with the partner; and
• possess a good sense of judgement along with the ability to make difficult decisions.

Your client engagement talents are essential to work with organisations to anticipate, manage and resolve issues that arise during the workplace lifecycle.

Your impeccable communication skills, ability to establish trust with a range of clients, high regard for quality driven outcomes and 'challenge accepted' growth mindset are necessary traits to enjoy and succeed in this role.
