Job summary

Mountains Animal Hospital is located in Blaxland NSW in the Lower Blue Mountains and is seeking a motivated GP Veterinary Nurse to join our General Practice team. This part-time role involves sole charge with one Vet and one nurse onsite, serving a friendly local client base.

Responsibilities include patient care, client communication, reception tasks, and nursing duties across consults, surgery, and kennels. Experience with RxWorks/Vetcheck is desirable.

Qualifications

• Certificate 4 in veterinary nursing or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar veterinary nursing role.
• Enthusiastic and outgoing personality.
• Excellent phone manner and customer service skills.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care.
• Interest in mentoring junior veterinary nurses and work experience students.
• Comfort with Sole Nurse work (one Vet and one nurse onsite).
• Excellent time management across reception, consulting nursing, surgery and kennel duties.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care and ensure best outcomes for patients and clients.
• Communicate with clients face to face and over the phone on a regular basis.
• Reception/administration duties including invoicing, cash handling, till reconciliation and record keeping.
• Nursing duties including surgical nursing, medical care and treatments to inpatients, basic diagnostics, and assisting veterinarians.
• Tending to boarding patients (Canines, Felines, Avian, Exotics) in Pet Hotel and General Boarding facilities onsite (cleaning, feeding, medicating, walking).
• Providing basic grooming services for sedated canine and feline patients.
• Perform Nursing consults, admissions and discharges as required.

Education

Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing

2 years experience in veterinary nursing
