Job summary

Mountains Animal Hospital in Blaxland, NSW is seeking a motivated GP Veterinary Nurse for a part-time role. You will work regular Tuesday to Saturday shifts in a small GP clinic with a friendly local client base, and be comfortable with sole charge duties alongside one vet and one nurse onsite.

You will manage patient care, communicate with clients, handle reception tasks, and provide nursing and boarding support.

Qualifications

• Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a veterinary nursing role.
• Enthusiastic, outgoing personality and excellent phone manner.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care.
• Interest in mentoring junior nurses and work experience students.
• Comfortable with sole nurse work (one Vet and one nurse onsite).
• Able to manage reception, consulting, surgery and kennel tasks.
• RxWorks and Vetcheck experience desired but not essential.
• Four weeks annual leave per year (pro-rata for part-time).

Responsibilities

Job description

Mountains Animal Hospital is looking for a motivated GP Veterinary Nurse, who is comfortable with sole charge, to join our friendly General Practice team of experienced Vets and Nurses. This is a part-time role working regular Tuesday to Saturday shifts at a small GP clinic with a friendly local client base.

Key responsibilities

• Management of patient care and ensuring best possible outcomes for patients and clients
• Communicating with clients on a regular basis both face to face and over the phone
• Reception/administration duties including invoicing, cash handling, till reconciliation and record keeping
• Veterinary nursing duties including surgical nursing, providing medical care and treatments to inpatients, performing basic diagnostic testing and assisting veterinarians in care and management of patients
• Tending to boarding patients (Canines, Felines, Avian, Exotics etc) in both the Pet Hotel and General Boarding facilities onsite (cleaning, feeding, medicating, walking)
• Providing basic grooming services for sedated canine and feline patients
• Performing Nursing consults, admissions and discharges as required

About you

• Hold a Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent
• Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar veterinary nursing role
• Have an enthusiastic and outgoing personality
• Have an excellent phone manner and customer service/communication skills
• Be committed to high standards of patient care
• Have an interest in training and mentoring junior veterinary nurses and work experience students
• Be comfortable with Sole Nurse work (With one Vet and one nurse onsite)
• Have excellent time management skills- being able to navigate a role that shares Reception, Consulting Nurse, Surgery and Kennel Hand/Ward duties on a given day
• Experience using RxWorks (desired but not essential)
• Experience using Vetcheck (desired but not essential)
• 4 weeks annual leave per year for full-time employees (pro-rata for part time employees)
• A variety of consulting and surgical cases each day
