Job summary

Novus in Sydney is seeking a Software Project Manager to lead an AI-enabled delivery program for enterprise-scale digital projects, owning the end-to-end delivery from roadmap to production. The six‑month contract features a Sydney-hybrid setup with two days in the office.

The initial project rebuilds the customer mobile app using AI agents on iOS and Android. You will coordinate the team and vendors, manage budgets and risks, and report progress to the AI program head, guiding governance,

Responsibilities

• Turn the AI roadmap into a two-week sprint delivery plan with milestones.
• Set up the delivery team and ensure resources are available at each stage.
• Coordinate engineering, product, testing, security, architecture and vendors.
• Report progress, confidence and decisions to the AI group and executives.
• Manage risks, issues and dependencies and raise concerns early.
• Track budget, vendor spend and cost forecasts.
• Get architecture, testing, responsible AI and security approvals before releases.
• Document ways of working, guardrails and lessons in a reusable playbook.

I’m hiring a Project Manager for an ASX listed household name

They’ve already proven the idea with a proof of concept that used AI agents to build software. Now they want to take it into production and make it the normal way their customer teams build software.

The first project is a rebuild of their main customer mobile app, done with AI agents, on a new stack that runs on both iOS and Android. You’ll take it from the roadmap all the way through to a production release.

You’ll report to the head of the AI program, who sets the AI strategy and technical direction. Delivery is yours, so the plan, the team, the vendors, the risks and the budget all sit with you.

What you’ll be doing

• Turning the AI roadmap into one delivery plan, split into two week sprints with clear milestones, dependencies and acceptance criteria
• Getting the delivery team set up and making sure the right people are free at each stage
• Keeping engineering, product, testing, security, architecture, the business and outside vendors moving together
• Reporting progress, confidence and the decisions needed to the AI working group and senior leadership
• Managing risks, issues and dependencies, and raising problems early when scope, timing or quality are at risk
• Tracking budget, vendor spend, resourcing and cost forecasts
• Getting architecture, testing, responsible AI and security approvals in place before each release
• Writing up the ways of working, guardrails and lessons into a playbook other squads can use

What we’re looking for

• A senior project manager or delivery lead background in software, ideally digital or mobile products
• Experience running agile delivery across several teams and outside vendors at once
• Experience in large organisations, including steering committees, release management and security reviews
• Strong control of budgets, vendor spend and forecasting
• Clear, calm communication, and you can tell senior leaders exactly where things stand
• An interest in AI and how it’s changing software delivery. If you’ve run an AI or automation program, or you use tools like Claude Code, Copilot or Cursor yourself, that’s a big plus
• Mobile app delivery experience is highly regarded
• You don’t need to be an AI engineer, as the technical direction sits with the head of the AI program and the engineering teams. This role needs someone who can run a complex program across several teams with real discipline, and who’s curious about how AI agents are changing the way software gets built.
• There aren’t many enterprise programs in Australia putting AI agents into production software delivery yet, so this is a good one to have on your CV.
