Job summary

Novus Recruitment Solutions is seeking AI Software Engineers (Mid to Principal) in Melbourne. You will own problems from inception to shipping production systems, influencing architecture and product direction.

You will work on low-latency AI systems, real-time audio/video processing, and systems that let AI agents understand a user's software context, with an emphasis on scalable, enterprise-grade infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 2+ years commercial experience in software development.
• Experience shipping production systems.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to diverse audiences.
• Experience building software used by real end users.

About the company

A fast growing, venture backed Melbourne AI company building real time AI agents that help people use and adopt complex software. They're already working with some of the biggest and most respected tech companies in the world, and generating extremely impressive ARR for a company of their age. You'll join a small, highly technical engineering team where your work directly shapes both the technology and the product.

The role

This is a broad role with real ownership. You'll work from understanding the problem through to shipping and improving production systems, and contribute to architecture and product direction.

What you'll work on

• Low latency conversational AI systems where every millisecond counts
• Real time audio and video processing for human and AI interaction
• Systems that let AI agents understand a user's software context and respond appropriately
• Agent context, knowledge management and retrieval
• Infrastructure that scales for enterprise customers and variable workloads

Python, TypeScript, modern frontend frameworks, WebRTC, Kubernetes and GCP. You don't need experience across all of it. Engineering ability and learning quickly matter more.

About you

• 2+ years commercial experience, with roles from mid level through to principal
• Product minded, comfortable owning work from problem to production
• Able to communicate technical opinions and tradeoffs clearly to different audiences
• Experience building software used by real end users
• Self directed and comfortable with changing priorities in a small team
• Startup experience highly regarded, as is strong progression at larger tech companies, financial services or consultancies
