Talenza in Brisbane is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of six developers, balancing people leadership with hands-on coding and shaping technical direction across frontend and backend systems.
You will own day-to-day engineering decisions, technical reviews, work allocation, and delivery planning while driving QA processes, CI/CD practices, and engineering standards in a hybrid work environment.
Engineering Manager | Brisbane | $180k + Super | Hybrid | Python, React, TypeScript, Azure | Hands-on Leadership
An opportunity to join a well-established global professional services organisation that is continuing to invest in its internal technology capability.
With a growing portfolio of custom-built applications, integrations and digital platforms, the business is looking to strengthen its engineering leadership function and drive greater consistency across software delivery, technical standards and engineering practices.
We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to take ownership of a team of six software developers, providing both technical direction and people leadership while remaining close to the technology.
Reporting directly to the Head of Department, you'll act as their right-hand person, taking ownership of day-to-day engineering decisions, technical reviews, work allocation and delivery planning. This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact, introducing structure, improving engineering processes and ensuring the team is aligned on technical standards across both front-end and back-end development.
The role offers approximately a 60/40 split between engineering leadership and hands-on technical involvement, so we're looking for someone who still enjoys getting into the detail, reviewing code, solving complex problems and guiding technical decisions.
You'll work closely with product and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly defined, technically achievable and delivered to a high standard. You'll also take ownership of improving QA processes, development workflows, CI/CD practices and overall engineering quality.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building high-performing teams, taking accountability for technical delivery and creating an engineering environment where developers can work effectively and independently.
If you're an experienced engineering leader who still enjoys being close to the code and wants the opportunity to take genuine ownership of a development team, I'd love to have a chat.
