Job summary

Raytheon Australia is seeking a Software Developer/Engineer to contribute to design, development and implementation improvements of the Woomera Test Range. The role involves integrating new instrumentation and expanding existing capabilities for defence projects.

You will work in a high-calibre team, with exposure to both Windows and Linux environments, and opportunities for professional development and travel to the Woomera Test Range as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Software Engineering, CS, or equivalent.
• 2–5 years in a software engineering role.
• Experience with Windows and Linux (RHEL preferred).
• Knowledge of secure development practices.
• Experience in DevOps, infrastructure-as-code and automation desirable.
• Proven ability to work independently in complex, regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyse, design, develop and integrate software into Windows and Linux.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and the software development environment.
• Work in a small team to implement software meeting requirements.
• Provide input into IT design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in a software engineering role, or equivalent.
• Windows & Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred)
• Virtualisation and Containerisation technologies
• Knowledge of Secure Development Practices
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C#, C++, Python, Bash).
• Experience in DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and system automation is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to work independently in complex, regulated environments.
