Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a social worker to deliver evidence-based psychosocial support to patients and families, addressing social, emotional and practical challenges. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, provide psychosocial advice and mentor students and junior social workers.

Applicants should have a Social Work degree and be eligible for AASW membership; newly qualified applicants are welcome.

Qualifications

  • Social Work degree required with eligibility for AASW membership.
  • Newly qualified applicants awaiting conferral or registration are welcome.
  • Understand social work practice, social systems, legislation and policy, and work autonomously.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and advocate for patients and families.
  • Willingness to learn, contribute to research and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based social work to help patients and families navigate social, emotional and practical challenges.
  • Provide psychosocial advice and mentor students and less experienced social workers.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to education, quality improvement and shaping practices.
