Job summary

The Garbage Company in Melbourne is seeking a creative Social Media Content Creator to own end-to-end content across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. You will film, edit and publish engaging content while actively growing our organic presence and brand awareness.

Ideal candidates are comfortable on camera, can generate fresh ideas, and collaborate with the team to drive engagement. This role is part-time with flexible hours and potential for future full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience creating engaging content for IG, TikTok and Facebook.
• Understand organic growth and brand awareness without paid ads.
• Confident appearing on camera.
• Strong video filming and editing skills.
• Proficient with Canva or CapCut.
• Knowledge of algorithms, trends and engagement strategies.
• Ability to generate original content ideas independently.
• Excellent time management and organization.

About the Role

As our Social Media Content Creator, you'll be responsible for developing, filming, editing and publishing engaging content across our social media platforms.

A key focus of this role will be driving organic social media growth, increasing brand visibility and building brand awareness through creative, engaging content.

We're looking for someone who can work independently, take initiative and consistently come up with fresh ideas that help our brand stand out.

Key Responsibilities

• Create engaging Instagram Reels, TikToks, Facebook videos and social media posts.

• Develop and execute creative content strategies to grow our organic social media presence and increase brand awareness.

• Film, edit and produce high-quality short-form video content.

• Confidently appear on camera and represent our brand in social media content.

• Design eye-catching graphics, carousels, stories and promotional posts.

• Brainstorm original, entertaining and shareable content ideas to attract new audiences.

• Grow our follower base, increase engagement and build an active online community organically.

• Plan, schedule and publish content across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.

• Stay up to date with social media trends, viral content and emerging platform features.

• Monitor content performance and identify opportunities to improve organic reach, engagement and follower growth.

• Take ownership of the content creation process, from brainstorming ideas through to filming, editing and publishing.

• Work independently while ensuring content aligns with our brand identity and business goals.

About You

We're looking for someone who is creative, confident, proactive and genuinely passionate about social media.

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

• Experience creating engaging content for Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.

• A strong understanding of organic social media growth strategies and how to build brand awareness without relying on paid advertising.

• Confidence and enthusiasm for appearing on camera.

• Strong video filming and editing skills.

• Experience using Canva, CapCut or similar content creation tools.

• A good understanding of social media algorithms, trends, hooks and engagement strategies.

• The ability to generate original content ideas without needing constant direction.

• Strong organisational and time management skills.

• The ability to work independently and manage your own content schedule.

• A positive attitude, strong communication skills and willingness to experiment with new ideas.

Bonus Skills (Not Essential)

• Proven experience growing social media accounts organically and increasing engagement.

• A portfolio of viral or high-performing social media content.

• Experience with Meta Ads (Facebook & Instagram) and Google Ads, including campaign creation, management and optimisation.

• Knowledge of digital marketing, paid advertising and lead generation.

• Experience creating content for service-based businesses.
