Job summary

SPX AtoN is seeking motivated SMT Operators to join our electronics manufacturing team. Training in SMT equipment and processes will be provided, making it ideal for candidates with electronics experience who want to develop their skills in SMT production.

You will set up, operate, and maintain SMT equipment to deliver high-quality PCB assemblies. The role emphasizes attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to safety and quality standards within a modern manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up SMT lines and operate pick-and-place, reflow, and inspection equipment.
• Assist with machine maintenance and troubleshooting under guidance.
• Carry out visual inspection and support quality checks.
• Support changeovers and optimise line setups to meet production schedules.
• Work with the team to identify and resolve production issues.
• Maintain accurate records of production runs and material usage.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the SMT process.
• Follow workplace safety, ESD, and quality procedures at all times.

Previous SMT experience is an advantage but not essential, as training in SMT equipment and processes will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with electronics manufacturing, assembly, testing, or technical experience who are keen to develop their skills in Surface Mount Technology.

Your Role

As an SMT Operator, you will set up, operate, and maintain Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring efficient production and delivering high-quality PCB assemblies for a range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor SMT production lines (pick-and-place, reflow, and inspection equipment).
• Assist with machine maintenance and troubleshooting under guidance.
• Carry out visual inspection and support visual inspection checks to ensure quality standards.
• Support changeovers and optimise line setups to meet production schedules.
• Work with the team to identify and resolve production issues.
• Maintain accurate records of production runs and material usage.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the SMT process.
• Follow workplace safety, ESD, and quality procedures at all times.

• A background in electronics is essential, such as experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, electronics testing, or a relevant electronics qualification.
• Previous experience as an SMT Operator is an advantage but not essential; willingness to learn SMT processes is required.
