Job summary

Weir is seeking a Digital R&D Engineer in Artarmon, Sydney, Australia to drive digital solutions for mineral processing technology. You will implement IoT, AI, and machine learning strategies, developing, testing, and deploying solutions that improve product performance and customer experience.

You will validate new technologies at customer sites, travel globally to ensure reliability, and collaborate with the Technology Product Manager while owning global digital lab operations.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of industrial/mining equipment including pumps, cyclones, screens, HPGRs, and rotating equipment.
• Expertise in sensors and instrumentation with installation and interpretation of vibration, temperature, and speed monitoring data.
• Hands-on field engineering experience with equipment testing, validation, troubleshooting, commissioning, and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy digital solutions using IoT, AI, and ML to enhance product performance and customer experience.
• Support validation of new technologies through field testing at customer sites and travel globally to ensure performance.
• Collaborate with Technology Product Manager during design phase to align with company strategy.
• Manage and support global Digital lab spaces for training, troubleshooting, R&D and testing teams.
• Provide deep knowledge of industrial/mining equipment and condition monitoring to solve complex problems.
• Conduct R&D on market trends and customer needs, creating specs, prototypes, and testing plans.
• Maintain detailed records and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
