Job summary

Weir Minerals Australia Limited is seeking a Digital R&D Engineer in Artarmon, Sydney, Australia. You will develop, test and deploy digital solutions leveraging IoT, AI, and machine learning to improve product performance and customer experience.

You will validate new technologies in the field, support field testing and deployment, and travel globally to ensure solutions meet performance and reliability standards. Collaboration with product managers and global lab teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of industrial/mining equipment including pumps, cyclones, screens, HPGRs, and rotating equipment.
• Expertise in sensors and instrumentation and data interpretation.
• Hands-on field engineering experience with equipment testing, validation, troubleshooting, commissioning, and deployment.
• Proven product development and R&D mindset; comfortable with new technologies and prototype validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy digital solutions using IoT, AI, and ML to enhance product performance and customer experience.
• Support validation of new technologies through hands-on field testing at customer sites; travel globally.
• Collaborate with Technology Product Manager during design to align with company strategy.
• Manage and support global Digital lab spaces for training, troubleshooting, R&D and testing.
• Provide deep knowledge of mining equipment and condition monitoring to guide technology advancement.
• Conduct R&D on market trends and customer needs; create specifications, prototypes, and testing plans.
• Document results and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
