Responsibilities

• Assist skilled tradespeople with preparation, layout and completion of construction work.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools and light machinery per safety protocols.
• Prepare and maintain work sites, clear debris and organise materials.
• Load, unload and move building materials and equipment safely.
• Support installation of temporary safety systems (fencing, signage, barriers).
• Assist with mixing, application and finishing of concrete and mortar.
• Take site measurements, marking and levelling under supervision.
• Perform general residential maintenance tasks.
• Communicate effectively with team and report issues promptly.

Job description

PM&R Constructions is seeking a Skilled Construction Labourer to join our dynamic team based metropolitan south and east of Melbourne. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to diverse residential renovation construction projects across the region. In this role, you will support skilled tradespeople and project teams, ensuring sites run efficiently and safely whilst developing your expertise in the construction industry. Your work will be integral to the successful delivery of our construction projects, and you will be part of a collaborative team committed to quality workmanship and professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assisting skilled tradespeople with the preparation, layout and completion of construction work across various project types
• Operating and maintaining hand tools, power tools and light machinery in accordance with safety protocols
• Preparing and maintaining work sites, including clearing debris, organising materials and ensuring housekeeping standards are met
• Loading, unloading and moving building materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Assisting with the installation of temporary safety systems, including fencing, signage and site barriers
• Supporting the mixing, application and finishing of concrete, mortar and other building materials
• Helping with site measurements, marking and levelling under the direction of qualified personnel
• General residential maintenance works
• Communicating effectively with team members and reporting any issues or concerns promptly

About you

• Proven experience as a Construction Labourer or similar role within the construction industry
• Working knowledge of common construction tools, equipment and materials
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour tasks consistently throughout the working day
• Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Reliability and punctuality, with a professional attitude towards work
• The ability to follow instructions and work under the supervision of qualified tradespeople
• Preferred: Experience with basic machinery operation or previous exposure to multiple construction disciplines
• Preferred: Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it
