Job summary

Cisco Systems is seeking a sizing-focused architect within the SAG team to shape how customer workloads map to infrastructure using sizing tools and rule-sets. You’ll impact upstream architecture, aiming to prevent sizing issues from reaching customers while supporting escalations when needed.

The role requires SPL mastery, Python proficiency for diagnostic tooling, and strong networking/OS knowledge. Collaboration across Australia, US, and UK teams is essential, with on-call duties outside

Qualifications

Expertise in Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL) and Splunk platform architecture — indexing, search, distributed deployments.
Production-level proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python preferred) to build and debug diagnostic tooling.
Working knowledge of networking, OS internals, and storage/data pipelines to root‑cause issues across infrastructure layers.
Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain root cause and remediation to engineers and customers alike.
Able to join an on‑call rotation covering customer escalations outside business hours.
Bachelor’s + 5 years, or Master’s/PhD + 2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Shape sizing architecture — frameworks, rule-sets, and tooling that map workloads to infrastructure.
Provide upstream architectural input and support high-visibility escalations to protect customers from sizing issues.
