Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a sizing, architecture & governance engineer to shape sizing frameworks, rule-sets, and tooling that map customer workloads to infrastructure. You’ll influence upstream architecture and assist with high-visibility escalations, reducing issues reaching customers.

The role requires strong SPL expertise, Python scripting, and knowledge of networking and storage pipelines, with a collaborative, multi-time-zone team across Australia, the US and the UK.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL) and Splunk platform architecture.
• Production-level proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python preferred).
• Working knowledge of networking, OS internals, and storage/data pipelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to explain root cause and remediation.
• Able to join an on-call rotation covering customer escalations outside business hours.
• Bachelor's + 5 years, or Master's/PhD + 2 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Shape sizing architecture: frameworks, rule-sets, and tooling that map workloads to infrastructure.
• Ensure sizing problems do not reach customers; influence upstream architecture.
• Support high-visibility escalations when needed, coordinating across teams.
