Job summary

Buildcorp's Remedial & Facade division seeks a Site/Area Supervisor to lead on remedial and facade works, delivering safe, high-quality construction on time. You will manage safety, coordination of trades, and oversee quality in occupied buildings across metropolitan Sydney.

The Opportunity:

As Site Supervisor you will run the site, as Area Supervisor you will run a section of the site. You'll own the delivery of safe, high-quality, on-time remedial and facade works - making sure exactly what is documented in the drawings, scope and specification is what gets built, to standard and to programme.

This is remedial work, so the site is rarely empty. You'll be delivering structural repairs, waterproofing, balcony and balustrade upgrades, cladding replacement and full facade re-clads in buildings where residents, tenants and building managers are going about their day around you. Managing that environment - access, noise, staging, expectations - is as much part of the job as managing the works.

You'll report to the Construction Director, and lead your site delivery crew and labourers, including performance-managing the subcontractors on site.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Taking the lead role in the day-to-day management of on-site safety in line with the Buildcorp Health, Safety and Environment Plan - inductions, SWMS review and sign-off, toolbox talks, and following through on non-compliances with improvement and breach notices where required.
• Running sites with a best-practice approach to working at heights - swing stages, BMUs, EWPs, scaffold and rope access - and to hazardous materials management, including asbestos and combustible cladding removal.
• Ensuring quality compliance on all projects in line with the Buildcorp Quality Management Guide and Quality Policy.
• Formulating the site programme, issuing it to the project team and subcontractors, and managing day-to-day site activity against it - planning ahead to deliver without delay.
• Completing daily site diary entries, site inspections and inductions.
• Administering site aspects of finalisation plans and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), including managing witness testing.
• Liaising with statutory bodies (Council, Sydney Water, Ausgrid and similar) and making all statutory notifications in a timely manner.
• Running the on-site budget and business processes covering labour, overtime, small tools and hired equipment, purchasing to the purchase order system and submitting dockets, receipts and invoices to the Contracts Administrator weekly.
• Ensuring sign-off and collection of day-labour sheets for all variations and potential variations - critical on remedial scopes where latent conditions are the norm.
• Managing subcontractors and site labour to the project plan, drawings and specifications; understanding head and subcontract terms, particularly time bars; and assisting in valuing subcontractor claims.
• Producing defect lists for each subcontractor prior to finishing works and managing the inspection and sign-off process.
• Chairing and running internal supervisory meetings, safety toolbox talks and subcontractor meetings, and providing regular site updates to the Project Manager on programme, budget, variations and delays.
• Organising site inspections for clients, strata committees, engineers, consultants and authorities, and providing client updates as directed by the Project Manager.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated site supervision experience with a head contractor - remedial, facade, restoration or structural repair experience is highly regarded, but we will also consider strong supervisors from commercial construction or fitout who want to move into remedial.
• A trade background (concreting, carpentry, waterproofing or similar) or a construction/engineering qualification - both paths are welcome.
• A genuine command of safety on complex, height-access sites, and the confidence to hold subcontractors to it.
• The ability to read and interrogate drawings, engineering details and specifications, and to spot the gap between what was scoped and what the building actually presents.
• Strong programming discipline and the organisation to keep multiple trades sequenced in a constrained, occupied environment.
• Excellent communication skills - you'll be dealing with residents, building managers, strata committees and consultants as well as your own trades, and how you handle those conversations matters.
• A current driver's licence and the flexibility to move between sites across metropolitan Sydney.
