Job summary

Simplified Recruitment Solutions Pty in Sydney is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to oversee daily construction activities on residential developments and coordinate trades across multi-storey projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will drive safety, quality and programme delivery, read drawings, manage subcontractors and ensure alignment with project specifications.

About Our Client

Our client is an established Sydney-based construction and property development company specialising in high-quality residential and mixed-use developments. With a strong pipeline of projects, our client is recognised for its commitment to construction excellence, safety, quality workmanship and successful project delivery.

An opportunity is available for an experienced and hands-on Site Supervisor to join their construction team and contribute to the successful delivery of residential developments across Sydney. The Role Reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the wider construction team, the Site Supervisor will oversee daily site operations, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and ensure construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project programmes, specifications and quality standards.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong construction knowledge, excellent leadership skills and proven experience supervising residential building projects, ideally including multi-storey apartment developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Operations & Project Delivery
• Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring works progress safely, efficiently and on schedule.
• Coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers, materials and site resources.
• Monitor construction progress against project programmes and key milestones.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural and engineering drawings.
• Identify and resolve construction issues, trade conflicts and potential delays.
• Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers and other project stakeholders.

Subcontractor & Trade Management

• Supervise multiple trades across structural, services, fit-out and finishing stages.
• Coordinate trade sequencing to maximise productivity and minimise delays.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, workmanship and compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain strong working relationships while ensuring accountability for quality and delivery.

Workplace Health & Safety

• Ensure compliance with NSW WHS legislation, site safety plans and company procedures.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance with SWMS and relevant safety requirements.
• Identify hazards, implement corrective actions and promote a proactive safety culture.
• Work closely with the WHS team to maintain safe site operations.

Quality Assurance & Construction Programming

• Ensure construction works meet approved drawings, Australian Standards and relevant building regulations.
• Conduct quality inspections, identify defects and coordinate rectification works.
• Oversee finishing trades to maintain high standards of workmanship.
• Assist with weekly look-ahead programmes, trade scheduling and progress reporting.
• Maintain site diaries, inspection records and relevant construction documentation.
• Support practical completion, defect close-out and project handover.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Supervisor, General Foreman, Leading Hand or similar within residential construction.
• Experience supervising multi-trade construction activities, preferably on medium- to high-density residential developments.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and programme management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors and maintain productivity, quality and safety standards.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings.
• Sound knowledge of NSW WHS legislation, building regulations and quality requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Construction White Card.

Highly Regarded

• Relevant trade qualification, Certificate IV or Diploma in Building and Construction.
• Experience delivering multi-storey residential apartment projects.
• Exposure to structural works, concrete construction, services coordination and internal fit-outs.
• Experience managing finishing trades, defects and practical completion.
• Familiarity with Procore, Aconex, HammerTech or similar construction management systems.
