Site Safety Advisor – Mining Maintenance

Job summary

MacKellar Group is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to support its Moranbah maintenance team. You will provide practical HSE guidance, conduct site inspections, and work with supervisors to identify hazards and drive safe, compliant operations.

You’ll monitor regulatory compliance, assist with investigations and risk assessments, and help implement corrective actions and safety improvements across the site.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Safety Advisor within the coal mining industry.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
• Current G1, G8, G9 and G2 competencies, or a willingness to obtain them.
• A current Queensland Driver Licence.
• Sound understanding of HSE management systems, risk assessments and relevant legislation.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with employees and site leadership.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence managing safety documentation.
• Hands-on, solutions-focused approach and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Providing HSE advice and support to maintenance personnel, supervisors and site leadership.
• Conducting site inspections, audits and safety observations to identify hazards and improve safety performance.
• Supporting incident investigations, risk assessments and the implementation and close-out of corrective actions.
• Monitoring compliance with legislative requirements, site procedures and MacKellar's HSE Management System.
• Assisting with the development, review and implementation of safety procedures and improvement initiatives.
• Promoting hazard identification, risk management and safe work practices across the maintenance team.
• Maintaining accurate safety records, registers, reports and site documentation.
• Supporting general HSE administration and reporting requirements.
