Job summary

Mackellar seeks an experienced Safety Advisor to sit on the site team in Moranbah, Queensland. You will provide practical safety support, maintain compliance, and contribute to a strong safety culture while handling day-to-day administration to keep the site running smoothly.

The role requires coal mining safety experience, a Certificate IV in WHS, and current G1/G8/G9/G2 qualifications (or willingness to obtain). A Queensland driver licence and strong HSE knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Safety Advisor within a coal mining environment.
• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety.
• Current G1, G8, G9 and G2, or willingness to obtain.
• Current Queensland Driver Licence.
• Strong understanding of HSE systems, risk management and legislative requirements.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently while also supporting supervisors and site leadership.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to safety.

Responsibilities

• Providing practical and technical HSE support to site leadership and operational teams.
• Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with Mackellar policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
• Conducting site inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Supporting incident and investigation processes and ensuring corrective actions are effectively closed out.
• Assisting with the development, review and implementation of site-specific safety procedures and initiatives.
• Monitoring compliance with the HSE Management System.
• Supporting risk assessments, hazard identification and control implementation.
• Providing safety advice and guidance to supervisors and employees.
• Maintaining safety records, registers, reporting and other site documentation.
• Assisting with safety reporting, document control and general site administration.
• Building strong working relationships across the site to support safe and productive operations.
