Job summary

West Recruitment Consulting partners with a fast-growing Australian FMCG organisation to recruit a Reliability & Application Engineer. You will own the reliability, monitoring and investigation across a broad technology environment, collaborating with developers and external vendors to resolve complex issues.

You will establish and improve application monitoring, observability and alerting, using logs, metrics and traces to diagnose problems and drive automation.

Qualifications

• Experience in application reliability, DevOps or similar role.
• Strong investigative and diagnostics skills.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logs, metrics and traces.
• Experience with REST API integrations and ERP/eCommerce systems.

Responsibilities

• Establish and improve application monitoring, observability and alerting.
• Monitor the health and performance of business applications, APIs and integrations.
• Investigate complex application and integration incidents and identify root causes.
• Use logs, metrics, traces and SQL queries to diagnose technical issues.
• Troubleshoot REST APIs and application-to-application integrations.
• Provide Level 3 technical support across business-critical applications.
• Work with Developers and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
• Identify recurring incidents and implement automation and reliability improvements.
• Maintain dashboards, technical documentation, runbooks and support procedures.
• Communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly with business stakeholders.

About Your New Role

As the Reliability & Application Engineer, you will take ownership of application and integration reliability, monitoring and technical investigation across a broad technology environment.

Other key tasks include:

• Establish and improve application monitoring, observability and alerting.
• Monitor the health and performance of business applications, APIs and integrations.
• Investigate complex application and integration incidents and identify root causes.
• Use logs, metrics, traces and SQL queries to diagnose technical issues.
• Troubleshoot REST APIs and application-to-application integrations.
• Provide Level 3 technical support across business-critical applications.
• Work with Developers and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
• Identify recurring incidents and implement automation and reliability improvements.
• Maintain dashboards, technical documentation, runbooks and support procedures.
• Communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly with business stakeholders.

About You

An experienced technical professional with a strong background in application support, reliability engineering, DevOps or a similar technical environment. You enjoy investigating complex problems and have the technical capability to work across applications, databases and integrations.

You will be familiar with the following:

• Application monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, Grafana or Elastic.
• Strong SQL querying and application troubleshooting skills.
• .NET applications and the ability to investigate application errors and behaviour.
• REST APIs and application integration troubleshooting.
• Logs, metrics, traces, dashboards and alerting.
• PowerShell, Python, C# or similar scripting/development languages.
• Jira Service Management or similar ITSM platforms.
• Supporting ERP, eCommerce, WMS or other integrated business systems.
• Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
