Job summary

ROUSSOS Recruitment, partnering with an established South Australian developer-builder, seeks an experienced Site Manager for a commercial mixed-use retail development in Strathalbyn. You will lead day-to-day site operations, coordinate trades and ensure safety, quality and programme delivery.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will drive construction programmes, manage subcontractors, and oversee site logistics to hand over a quality project valued at circa $20M+.

Qualifications

• Proven site management experience within commercial construction.
• Experience delivering projects valued at $20M or above.
• Exposure to retail, mixed-use or similarly complex developments.

Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating all on-site construction activities.
• Managing subcontractors, trades and suppliers to maintain productivity.
• Driving construction programmes, sequencing and key project milestones.
• Managing site logistics, resource allocation and short-term planning.
• Maintaining high standards of WHS, quality assurance and compliance.
• Coordinating site meetings, inspections and subcontractor activities.
• Working closely with the Project Manager and broader construction team.
• Liaising with consultants, clients and key project stakeholders.
• Identifying construction risks and resolving site challenges proactively.
• Overseeing defects, commissioning and handover of the project.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will oversee day-to-day site operations throughout the construction of the Strathalbyn development, ensuring programme, safety, quality and subcontractor performance are effectively managed through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

The Like Mind

You are an experienced Site Manager with a background in commercial construction and the confidence to lead site delivery on a project of this scale. You are organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities, building strong relationships with subcontractors and maintaining high standards across safety, quality and programme.

You will ideally bring:

• Proven Site Management experience within commercial construction
• Experience delivering projects valued at $20M or above
• Exposure to retail, mixed-use or similarly complex commercial developments
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing and programming
• Confidence managing subcontractors, trades and site teams
• A relevant trade background, ideally in Carpentry
• A strong understanding of WHS, quality assurance and compliance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A highly organised, autonomous and solutions-focused approach
• A track record of delivering projects safely, on programme and to a high standard
