Job summary

Western Downs Civil is seeking a Site Engineer to provide on-site technical and engineering support to the project team, managing work packs, inspections, and quality control in line with IMS standards. Expect rostered duties with DIDO accommodation, meals, and allowances when away from home.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil construction, preferably with exposure to bulk earthworks
• QA/QC or construction documentation experience desirable
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with site teams
• Understanding of civil construction testing, inspection processes or ITP documentation
• Rostered with DIDO accommodation, meals and allowances when away from home

About the role

Western Downs Civil is seeking a Site Engineer to provide on-site technical and engineering support to the project team, managing work packs, conducting inspections, and overseeing quality control in line with WDC's IMS standards.

Reporting to the Project Manager, this role requires strong communication skills, time management and a proactive site presence with a strong commitment to WDC's safety, quality, and environmental standards.

This is not a project-running or site-management role. It is ideal for someone who enjoys technical documentation, quality processes, and working closely with supervisors to ensure compliance across ITPs, NCRs, drawings, and project records.

In this role you will

• Prepare, implement, and maintain ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans)
• Raise, manage, and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Review drawings, plans, and specifications and check compliance against construction outputs
• Assist site supervisors and engineering teams with quality checks during bulk earthworks
• Conduct and document field inspections and testing as required
• Maintain accurate QA records, registers, photos, and documentation
• Support environmental and safety compliance documentation where required
• Work closely with supervisors to resolve quality issues as they arise
• Foster a culture of consistent quality across the project team

The ideal Candidate will have background & experience in:

• Experience in civil construction, preferably with exposure to bulk earthworks
• Previous involvement in quality assurance, QA/QC, or construction documentation (desirable but not essential)
• Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow structured processes
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with site teams
• Understanding of civil construction testing, inspection processes, or ITP documentation
• Ability to work on a roster and DIDO basis with camp accommodation, meals & allowance when away from home.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil Engineering OR relevant practical civil construction experience (5+ years preferred)
• Candidates with solid QA or earthworks experience but without a formal degree are encouraged to apply
